Navigating the many different types of therapist can be exceptionally confusing, and the jargon associated with therapy certainly doesn't help in most cases.

Fortunately, Helpspace has been designed from the ground up to tackle exactly this issue.

If you do not know anything about therapy, the types of therapy available, or the issues for which different types of therapy are recommended, that's fine! We have several ways to support you to make an informed choice:

The Helpspace Questionnaire:

We recommend you navigate to https://www.helpspace.org.uk/find-therapist and complete the short questionnaire.

This questionnaire is designed to match you with the qualities you are looking for in a therapist, as well as the way you wish to work in therapy.

You will be shown a selection of therapists that meet your preferences. You can make a shortlist, and choose a therapist you feel comfortable with. Remember that choosing a therapist is personal - so remember to trust your own instincts. It is important that you feel comfortable with your chosen therapist.

Initial Explorartory Session Guarentee

To ensure you are able to find the right therapist for you we have a Helpspace Initial Session Guarentee. This allows you to book up to two Initial Exploratory Sessions with Helpspace practitioners complete free of charge. This means that you can meet a second therapist without any cost to you, if you don't feel that your first choice was a good fit. You can find out more about how this works here.

Expert Consultation and Guidance:

If you are still unsure about what you need or which pracitioners may meet your needs, you can book a free consultation with our in-house expert Martha O' Brien MBACP.

This is a 20 minute meeting to discuss your needs and receive some guidance regarding which practitioners may suit you.

While this is not a therapy session our pracitioners experience and guidance can help you feel confident in your choice of practitioner and answer any questions you have.

The ultimate decision is always yours, and you will never be expected to book a session unless that feels right for you. After the consultation you will be provided with a list of pracitioners who may suit you needs, based on this consultation.
